NEEEA 2010 AWARDS PRESS
RELEASE: In October 2010, the New England Environmental Education Alliance held its 44th annual conference at the Lake Morey Resort in Fairlee, VT. During the conference annual awards for the Environmental Educators of the Year were presented. The non-formal educator award was presented to Kim Noyes of New Salem, MA. As the School Environmental Programs Coordinator for Northfield Mountain Recreation and Environmental Center, in Northfield, MA, Kim annually provides affordable EE for over 3000 students.
This year’s recipient in the formal (classroom) educator category was Judy Filkins of Hartland, VT. Judy is the K-8 Science and Math Coordinator for the Lebanon NH School District. She has led many professional development initiatives including a multi-year teacher professional development program funded by the Wellborn Ecology Fund, called Upper Valley Linkages for Environmental Literacy.
